The 16/97 Economic Alliance is working with regional resource-based businesses wanting to expand the range of services to support mining development in northern BC. The Alliance’s role, at this stage, is facilitating development of a "Mining Cluster" so that the region’s comparative advantages are exploited.

On November 26, 2008, the recently formed Northern Interior Mining Group (NIMG) provided an update to business and community representatives identifying both the short and long-term objectives to increase business participation with mine developers.
